Radon Detection and Treatment Course

Understanding the radon problem and the methods employed in radon detection and treatment, and being compliant with BR:211
This course duration is one full day. It is aimed at producing a greater understanding of the radon problem and the methods employed in its detection and treatment. Only by testing and remediation will a start be made to reduce the approximate 1000 + avoidable annual deaths from radon in the UK.
Construction methods are always evolving and new materials and installation techniques come onto the market. However, the risks associated with radon gas has not changed, but the focus has, and it has become more intense. The design and delivery of solutions has had to improve – hence the changes to BR:211 with responsibilities for design, implementation and inspection both emphasised and clarified. The course will cover being compliant with BR:211

A copy of The Radon Manual is included in the cost of this course. The manual and associated documents will be made available to applicants on the training day.

There will be short (optional) tests at the end of each session and a certificate will be awarded to all successful candidates. Companies of the candidates that pass the tests can apply for inclusion on The Radon Council’s list of approved contractors if they are members of The Radon Council.

The course is updated each year to reflect changing legislation and best practices. Therefore, it is expected that attendees retake the course every 5 years.
