The 20th National Radon Forum is being held on Thursday 2nd November 2023.The Radon Council will be present with two of our members speaking about the recent updates to BRE 211 of which The Radon Council has been heavily involved with.

The UK Radon Symposium
With revised radon potential maps having been released in December 2022, we are delighted to have speakers from both the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and BRE talking about the implications of the new maps for existing buildings and new developments. The Principal Specialist Inspector for Radiation at the Health & Safety Executive will also be speaking about HSE’s campaign to tackle non-compliance in schools and the regulator’s current policies in dealing with radon in the workplace.
This year, the International Radon Measurement Association is also running a half-day workshop focusing on radon testing for workplaces the preceding day including ideas of creating a new protocol for the UK on this.

This year’s forum will update stakeholders on various aspects of radon, including:
- The revised radon potential map
- Building mitigation
- National Radon Action Plan
There will also be an option to tour the UKHSA radon calibration/validation/inter-comparison facility or to attend a ‘Radon Basics’ presentation.
